Mid-Century Modern Wedding at The Foundry | Rachel + David

Rachel & David were inspired by Mid-Century Modern designs, Palm Springs, cocktails and Mad Men.  Holly loved helping them create the perfect mid-century vibe without being too cliché!  The style for this wedding came together with an effortless-air that looked oh-so-cool and fresh while still having a touch of vintage.

We loved incorporating modern-day trends, such as a gold sparkly runner, with vintage trends such as 1950’s Culver glassware.  Over the course of a year the bride Rachel and her mother along with Rachel from Butter & Bloom and Beckie from Vintage Ambiance collected and thrifted mid-century modern pieces to use with the wedding décor.

For the ceremony, we constructed a “breeze-way” backdrop that was inspired by Holly’s visit to the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs.  To create a romantic glow, we hung vintage lights over the aisle and lined the aisle with dozens of candles.

Cocktail hour was not complete without a mid-century lounge area, complete with mod furniture, and glassware. It set the tone for the rest of the evening, and we couldn’t get enough of it!

We featured two different centerpiece concepts; one was an eclectic mix of classic table lamps and the other was cocktail vignettes with flowers added for a whimsical touch.  Butter and Bloom created table numbers that were reminiscent of mid-century house numbers and Songbird Paperie designed round menus that looked like they were straight out of a 1950’s diner.  Each place setting featured a gold “starburst” as a take-away for the guests and an assortment of unique Culver glasses.

For dessert, guests enjoyed mini pineapple upside down cakes baked by Butter & Bloom.  The bride and groom are WSU alumni, so it was only fitting that they treat their guests to WSU Grabber Ice Cream Sandwiches from as the late night snack to conclude the evening!
Congrats, R+D! We loved getting to celebrate your love in the desert with you and your loved ones. Cheers to many more years of pizazz and cherished memories.
