Melrose Market Studios Wedding | Katie + Travis

In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, we wanted to share a wedding that welcomed St. Patrick’s Day in style! Katie + Travis’ Melrose Market Studios wedding was a stunning affair that was not only planned by our Boss Lady, Holly Patton Olsen, but also happened to be held on the eve of the festive holiday we’re celebrating today! Holly loved planning with Katie + Travis, because they were up for anything when it came to finding creative ways to bring fun to the mix, and because how sweet they were to each other.Melrose Market Studios Wedding in Seattle, WA | Creative ways to use veil in bridal portraits with bride and groom | Wedding Planning by Perfectly Posh Events, Seattle Wedding Planner | Kristen Honeycutt Photography | Floral Design by Contemporary FloralMelrose Market Studios Wedding in Seattle, WA | White and light pink bride and bridesmaid bouquets | Wedding Planning by Perfectly Posh Events, Seattle Wedding Planner | Kristen Honeycutt Photography | Floral Design by Contemporary FloralMelrose Market Studios Wedding in Seattle, WA | Cross brooch hidden in white lace wedding gown | Wedding Planning by Perfectly Posh Events, Seattle Wedding Planner | Kristen Honeycutt Photography | Floral Design by Contemporary Floral

Travis’ favorite sweet treat was Cinnabon, and the one fantasy he wished to fulfill on his wedding day was to be on the dance floor while eating a beloved Cinnabon. And eat and dance he did! There was no cake at this wedding. Just gooey, delicious cinnamon rolls instead!

As midnight of St. Patrick’s day approached, emerald green party props were passed around to one and all, as well as festive green jello shots. The party continued into the wee hours of St. Patrick’s Day!

We asked the lovely ladies to share some of their favorite memories of the day, and to share a bit of advice to our newly engaged readers! Here are their answers:

Posh: What was your favorite memory from your wedding?

E: Cheering our guests as we walked back up the aisle with our custom made drinks and seeing the room full of all our favorite people!

Same Sex Seattle Wedding | Incorporating a ceremony toast in your wedding | Perfectly Posh Events, Seattle Wedding Planning | Josh Lewis PhotographyK: This probably sounds cheesy but I loved the moment we walked out from behind the stage and saw all of our friends and family for the first time. The overwhelming feeling of love, support and happiness was almost too much. Being able to look around the room at 200+ people who you know and love from all parts of your life was something I will never forget.

E: Seriously, hire a wedding planner. I tell everyone that!
K: HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER. It is the single best advice I have given many engaged friends. We would have never been able to do it without Holly. It made such a difference when it came down to little design details or the day of. There is so much going on and as the bride/groom, you need to focus on each other and those there to support you.

Introducing: 2017 Pantone Color of the Year

Our social media outlets here at the Perfectly Posh Events HQ have been buzzing with everyone’s talk and excitement over Pantone’s big reveal for the 2017 Color of the Year! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pantone or the degree of their influence, they are the leading voice and opinion on all things color. Each year, they declare a particular color the hue they think will reflect the mood, attitude, and culture of the coming year– and we are already on the Pantone bandwagon! Meet Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year:

Greenery.

2017 Pantone Color of the Year | Greenery | Greenery, Pantone | 2017 Color of the YearPhoto Credit | Pantone

A word from the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman on the selection of Greenery as the 2017 Color of the Year:

Greenery | Pantone | 2017 Pantone Color of the YearPhoto Credit | Pantone

We L-O-V-E how Leatrice described Greenery as “….the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” In relation to weddings, for many of our couples, this is exactly what they seek to capture in the look and feel of their wedding! Many describe their wedding as “organic”, “natural”, “relaxed” “outdoorsy”, “centered around those we love”, or best of all “a reflection of us both”.  We think Pantone nailed it on the head with this year’s selection!

The cool thing about this year’s Color of the Year– not just those of us who live, breath, sleep weddings, but also for our couples, is this time around, wedding trends are ahead of the pack!

Our fearless leader and boss lady, Holly Patton Olsen remarks, “This is the first time that I can remember when wedding trends were ahead of Pantone on trends–usually Pantone sets the trends in color but we’ve been seeing a truck load of greenery wanting to be incorporated into weddings for a few seasons now.  With Pantone promoting it even more there is good chance that we will continue to see greenery for at least the next 3 years!” This is great news for us! We love getting the chance to be creative and collaborate with our talented florist friends to bring the beauty of the outdoors in to make our couple’s visions come to life. Sometimes nature makes it easy on us, by just being itself, and we take advantage of its natural beauty!

As Pantone puts it, “Greenery is nature’s neutral.” We are so giddy to share with you a few of our real weddings that showed off “nature’s neutral” so well! Check them out!

A Meadowbrook Farm Wedding | Wes + Jesse

We can’t wait to share with you the view from Wes + Jesse’s outdoor wedding! Wes & Jess worked with Holly on planning their big day and she loved everything they had planned to incorporate into their nuptials!

Their design theme was “rustic vintage” with pops of purple and green and since they were a very outdoorsy couple, we created an overall ambiance that was very natural and relaxed.

They said “I Do” in a field at the base of Mount Si on a gorgeous, sunny day, which created a stunning backdrop for their nuptials!

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a leisurely nature walk to the reception site followed by lawn games and refreshments. J + W even including a home brew beer that they made especially for the occasion, complete with adorable, custom bottle labels that said “Hoplessly in Love”! How cute is that!?

Guests were encouraged to sign J + W’s adorable “guestbook” by signing a leaf on their painted family tree. After cocktail hour, they found their names on the rustic, wooden frames, and scanned the room for their seats down the long dinner tables.

Their place cards were attached to tiny sprigs of lavender!

The favors were my favorite personal detail – they each contributed something from their family kitchens for guests to take home and enjoy; Jesse’s family shared a family cookie recipe with a festive cookie cutter and Wes’s family bottled their special BBQ Spice Rub for guests to remember them by for BBQs to come! We love it when couples come up with out-of-the-box ideas for their wedding favors!

A Golden Gardens Bathhouse Wedding | Holly + Dustin

If this wedding looks familiar to you, or if you missed it, Holly + Dustin’s wedding was one of the weddings featured in our Fifty Shades blog series! Their wedding color scheme revolved around the most glorious shade of pink! Petal pink, to be exact!

We’re back to give H+D’s wedding a little more love, and to share some more eye candy and all the personal details that made this wedding the stunner that it is!

Holly and Dustin tied the knot at Golden Garden’s Bathhouse on a sunny September afternoon with their closest family and friends! The anticipation of the day was palpable! Everyone was so excited for the day to enfold!

Holly + Dustin were so laid back and easy going throughout the whole planning process, and their big day way no different! The love and tenderness between them was so obvious that day. It was apparent it really was a celebration of love.

The girls donned pale pink gowns, while the boys looked dapper in gray ties and suits. The resounding hue throughout the day was the elegant and subtle Petal Pink, with pops of Parachute Purple and Gossamer Pink against a classic Antique White.

The flowers were the main vehicle in which these colors made their appearance on the day! They were so delicate and feminine; a perfect contrast against the brick and concrete of the reception space, which you will see later!

The sun decided to miraculously cooperate with their plans to have an outdoor ceremony on a September afternoon in Seattle!  Holly + Dustin said “I Do” under a shaded, lace backdrop, surrounded by their nearest and dearest loved ones. It was September perfection.

For the design of the day, Holly was inspired by the trend of modern graphics mixed with vintage pieces that give off a modern eclectic vibe. We loved the incorporation of old, wooden crates to give some dimension to their cake table!

She used her professional skills to create the signage, décor elements and centerpieces for their special day.  It was definitely a labor of love and it turned out so cute!!!

3 Ways to Incorporate Social Media into Your Wedding

In this day and age, it feels like second nature to share our daily activities on our social media, so why should our wedding day be any different!?

This is why we are excited to give you some fun and creative ways you can incorporate social media into your wedding fay festivities!

Three Ways to Incorporate Social Media into Your Wedding | Perfectly Posh Events Blog Post | Perfectly Posh Events |

1.} Instagram Hashtags

Three Ways to Incorporate Social Media into Your Wedding | Perfectly Posh Events | Instagram Logo

Logo Credit | Instagram.com

We know hashtags aren’t anything new, but Instagram and their hashtags are alive and well, and don’t seem to be going anywhere–especially for weddings! For those who still aren’t quite sure what hashtags are for, we will give you a brief re-cap. Hashtags are used in the most popular social media platforms, such as Twitter, Instagram, and now Facebook. What makes them special is that any word or phrase that is turned into a hashtag is now a searchable link. It’s a way to organize and track content, and in Instagram’s case, track photos that are all related. For weddings, this is done by guests using the couple’s custom hashtag they made up for their big day that they include when posting their Instagram photos.

When you search that custom hashtag on Instagram, all photos anyone posted on Instagram, using that hashtag will show up!

Your wedding from the view of your guests is a unique perspective that Instagram offers! Some get really creative when coming up with their own hashtag. It’s usually a play on the couple’s names, the groom’s last name, or a phrase. So get creative!

*Tip: Make sure no one has used your hashtag before you by doing a quick search on Instagram! If there are no search results, your hashtag is golden and ready to be used for your special day!

2.} Snapchat Geo Filters

Three Ways to Incorporate Social Media into Your Wedding | Perfectly Posh Events | Snapchat Logo

Logo Credit | Snapchat.com

Snapchat may be a brave new world you have yet to embark on, but in our {humble} opinion, it is the latest and greatest platform couples can utilize when trying to be creative and engaging with social media! The reason Snapchat is so great, is because it is a conduit for raw, authentic footage and photos from an event or moment that doesn’t have the pressure from other platforms to look or be “picture perfect”. Its authenticity and real-time qualities are what make this a unique option.

We have seen couples utilize the real-time video and photo content “Snapchatters” post and send to include a customized “geo filter” specially designed for their wedding day! Not sure what a geo filter is? Check this link.

Geo filters are a fun and out-of-the-box way for your guests to share their memories from your wedding to their “story”! From them arriving and showing their excitement for your day, a snapshot of your first dance on the dance floor,a video of you two cutting the cake, it’s a great way for guests to post a unique “snap” that lets their followers know where they’re at and what they’re doing!

If you’re interested in having a custom geo filter at your big day, click here to get started in creating your own geo filter.

*Tip: Be sure to have signage and announcements throughout the night to inform guests you have a geo filter! If they’re “Snapchatters”, they’ll know what to do! Fun fact: According to Snapchat.com, “More than 60% of U.S.13 to 34 year-old smartphone users are Snapchatters.”

If Snapchat isn’t your thing, we’ve got another trending alternative that we’ve noticed is taking our Facebook feeds by storm: Facebook Live. We like the potential this powerful and influential platform is already having in the world of weddings! Couples {and planners!} are posting live “broadcasts” throughout their wedding planning journey! From cake tastings, choosing items for their registry, linen selections, invitation design options, the list goes on, even right up to the wedding day! What makes these “broadcasts” different than Snapchat and Instagram, is because it’s live, people can watch and leave comments and remarks of whatever it is you’re doing in real time! They can give you feedback, encouragement, or suggestions on the fly!  Its closest competitor is Periscope, but we think because of how popular Facebook is {your Aunt Ethel in the UK probably has one!}, it is the better platform to use if you’re looking to have a bigger number of viewers.

Another perk of Facebook Live is you are able to broadcast to a private group! If you’re utilizing Facebook instead of a wedding website to communicate information, Facebook Live would be a great addition to your group, especially for those who have to celebrate with you from afar but want to still feel a part of your big day! Here’s how to share a Live Facebook video to a group.

If you aren’t afraid to share your wedding memories to your whole world of Facebook, here’s how to share a live Facebook video to your profile.

*Tip: You can only do Facebook Live via the iOS Facebook app or the Android app!

We hope one of these platforms and their unique offerings are a good fit for you and your wedding shenanigans!

Until next time!

A Color Palette Series: Fifty Shades of Green | A color palette series breaking down different shades of a color and helping you decide which shade you want in your wedding | Blog Series by Perfectly Posh Events

We know the question you’ve all been wondering– When is the next Fifty Shades installment going to be here!? Well, fear not, it is here, and we are thrilled to discuss the next color in our color palette series that we have affectionately and pun-intendedly titled “Fifty Shades”. We are proud to introduce…Fifty Shades of Green!

So here we find ourselves again, attempting to show you the creative ways different shades of a single color can be incorporated into your wedding day festivities. We also are striving to set the record straight on the exact shade of color you’ve been trying to describe to your friends and family that you’re wanting used in your big day. So here we go, in an attempt to shed a small light on the beautiful, boundless shades of green.

We all know that green can often be a bit tricky, since floral greenery is typically where green is incorporated into a wedding. Don’t get us wrong, we love the ever popular green swag as much as the next planner, but this just doesn’t give the color green the justice it deserves on the color wheel of possibilities!

And for those of you who have not read up on our other Fifty Shades, you can find our different blogs here {pink} and here {white}.

So besides a term we will use, called “natural greenery”, which refers to any kind of greenery swag used in wedding decor, here are a few shades of green that can surprisingly be incorporated into your wedding look–and look good in it!

Here’s our Fifty Shades of Green lineup:

Now that we’ve given you our lineup of featured green shades, let’s delve into some of our own real weddings and events that feature these hues and show you how they could translate into your own wedding, as well as a complementing color scheme for each of them!

We swoon over the romance that Hunter Green brought to Bailey + Pete’s New Year’s Eve nuptials. It served as a solid neutral for their other colors like Red Dahlia, Snow White, and Silver to shine! The fact that the dark evergreen on the property was decorated with twinkling lights and dark red ornaments proves their color scheme and the holidays were meant to be! B+P used a mix of metallics throughout the entire design scheme of their day, which we are finding is quickly becoming a new trend! The mixing of metallics like gold and silver worked perfectly on their New Year’s Eve celebration!

We love the unique and bold statement Hillary made with the decision to have an emerald green dress! Being it was her favorite color {her earrings AND engagement ring were all emeralds!} it seemed like an emerald colored dresses was the only option that felt right! This made her color palette decision an easy one! We simply worked around the vibrance of emerald green and grounded it with a beautiful array of other colors. We loved using Hushed Green in her florals to round out the emerald green, along with an elegant pairing of Snow White & Jet Black to be the neutrals in her color scheme. Hillary + Martin were married in Autumn on the cliffs of Snoqualmie Falls, and wanted to channel the atmosphere of their surroundings. They used many natural elements in their design, such as moss and wood rounds which gave their day a {and their color palette} a great place to rest and also show its versatility from elegant to rustic!

We could look at Makayla + Johnny’s wedding day nuptials over and over! They were onto something when they picked such a light and ethereal green like White Jade to have the spotlight on their wedding day! When they paired it with colors like Light Gray, Petal Pink, and Bright White, it proved that green is the new pink! Do we see a new wedding color trend coming on?! If you’re looking for the light, whimsical, romantic feel for your wedding day, but are hoping to see something other than pink take center stage, White Jade may be the shade you’ve been looking for! We love how the natural greenery fits in and works around White Jade to give it that whimsical, natural essence. Everything about M+J’s wedding makes us crave White Jade!

To say we are loving these muted greens is an understatement! Kaja + Joe took pastel colors like Milky Green and Pastel Yellow, and paired them with some some beautiful neutral colors like Snow White and Glacier Gray, and the result is elegant affair! We haven’t seen this shade of green on the scene very long, but we sure wouldn’t mind seeing more of it! We love the neutral base that Milky Green can offer, along with its versatility when paired with other colors! This could be just one of the many swatches Milky Green could shine or help another color sparkle! We love that K+J chose a light gray, like Glacier Gray to surround Milky Green in the natural stone of their venue. The Pastel Yellow brought the soft, and feminine side and that pop of color, while Snow White served as the anchor, solid and steadfast for the others to stand on. We love muted greens!

We love  all the feels a bright green like Jasmine Green offers to us! Don’t get us wrong, we are still dreaming about our other green counterparts, but this Jasmine Green has something to offer the other shades don’t; and that’s fun, energy, and va-va-voom! This shade isn’t for the faint of heart, however. But it you’re bold enough to take Jasmine Green on, and harness it, the result may be a stunning, citrus countryside wedding.  Obviously, we channeled the untapped resource of the citrus fruits and had them be the showstoppers in this wedding inspiration design! With Jasmine Green, Blazing Yellow, and Orange Peel being such aggressive and vibrant colors, it was important we tone those colors down with a softer, muted color, such as Tropical Peach. The result? Well, it’s hard to argue with these photos! The natural greenery and the wooden tables offer texture, and served well as the soft veil over the other colors, to kind of ground them, and be the canvas for those bright colors to shine!

We hope this blog has been helpful, in finding the right colors for you to describe your palette and wedding day dreams. Stay tuned for other editions of the “Fifty Shades” series, where we will give you different shades of another color for you to better clarify and describe your big day. Comment below or tweet us @posh_weddings and tell us your favorite shade of green!

All the colors mentioned above can be found on Pantone.com. Please also note, depending on the suffix of the color you like, the shade may look different depending on if it is either on paper {printed} or cotton {fabric}. The suffix indicated for a paper shade is: TPX/TPG {think “P” for paper} and the suffix indicated for a cotton shade is: TCX {think “C” for cotton}. For example: Hunter Green 19 – 5511 TCX {Cotton Shade}.

Until next time!
