Spotlight: 5 Tips for Fantastic Engagement Photos with Kristen Honeycutt

I have a real treat for you today! With spring and sunshine here, many of you may be planning your engagement session with your photographers soon. We had the pleasure of working with Kristen Honeycutt recently. She photographed two of our weddings last month, so I asked her to give her best tips fo fanastic engagement photos with your love. Be ready to take notes and for all the photo inspiration ahead! Below are Kristen’s Top 5 Tips!

Tip 1: Dress to impress

This doesn’t mean you can’t wear jeans or your favorite t-shirt, but putting some thought into what you’ll wear can really make a difference in your pictures. A few things to think about…

Tip 2: Schedule a hair and make up appointment

Professional hair and make up can make a big difference in your photos, and it’s a great opportunity to trial vendors for your wedding day. Ask your photographer for some recommendations and book those appointments a few hours before your session- you won’t regret it!
Tip 3: Plan ahead and get there early

There’s nothing more stressful than running late, and Seattle has some especially unpredictable traffic at times. Do yourself a favor and plan to arrive a little bit early. If you get there with time to spare, grab a coffee or go for a walk- you’ll be relaxed and ready when your session begins.

Tip 4: Make it you!
Did you bond over ice cream? Does your beach cruiser always remind you of that first year of dating? Whatever it is, find away to bring a little of what make you two special into your engagement session with the location, props, or an activity. Be creative!
Tip 5: Let your love shine!

This sounds like an obvious one, but it’s probably the most important. Your photographer can find you the prettiest light, the best location, and set you up for some great shots, but it’s up to you to bring the love. So laugh with each other, snuggle up, be affectionate, and enjoy the time spent together. I promise it will be fun, and afterwards you will have some of those sweet candid moments to add to your wall!
