Makayla & Johnny Hekker are college sweethearts who met attending Oregon State University and connected through a love of sports; she was a gymnast and he played football [he’s now a Pro Bowl Punter for the LA Ram’s]. They selected Seattle as the destination for their wedding because they love the Pacific Northwest and have close family & friend ties in the area. Most of the wedding planning was done from a distance due to Johnny’s football schedule, which meant that the couple entrusted Holly to bring their wedding vision to life and even booked their urban venue, the Fremont Foundry, sight-unseen!
Their overall vision was a simple and fresh wedding in an urban setting with a mix of modern and vintage that showcased the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. They choose a mix of copper, neutrals and natural greens as their color palette, which popped off the concrete setting at the Fremont Foundry beautifully. Johnny & Makayla wanted their guests to have a blast at their wedding so they incorporated an ice cream sandwich food truck and slow motion booth at the reception and both were definitely a big hit! The night ended with a sparkler departure and mini-bud vases of flowers for each guests as a favor.
