I love taking a moment to reflect on the past year as we look forward to all the moments & milestone celebrations that will be happening in 2019. We truly have the BEST couples in the world and we are so lucky to get to be present during such a special moment in their lives! I am forever grateful to our fabulous wedding professionals who partner with us to create these meaningful events – it truly is a team effort! And of course, my team – these ladies dubbed us the “sisterhood” this year and I LOVE this nickname for our team of planners! So here it goes, the 2018 Year in Review for Perfectly Posh Events…

The Weddings
We had the privilege of helping 37 couples get hitched in 2018 between our Seattle and Portland wedding planning teams. Our couples loved including their fur babies in their special days, incorporating personalized details, creating atmospheres that tapped into all 5 senses of the guests, and of course there was lots of greenery hanging from every surface. Our wedding planning adventures took us to 27 different venues and 2 private residences throughout Washington & Oregon:
- The Edgewater Hotel
- Broadmoor Golf Club
- Cave B Winery
- The Ruins
- The Sanctuary
- Parson’s Garden
- Canlis
- Roche Harbor Resort
- The Woodmark Hotel
- Novelty Hill Januik Winery
- JM Cellars
- The Corson Building
- Thompson Seattle
- Vernonia Springs
- Vashon Field & Pond
- Evergreen PDX
- Court in the Square
- Fremont Foundry
- Kiana Lodge
- MOHAI
- Wisteria Hall
- Zenith Vineyards
- Block 41
- Jupiter NEXT
- Alderbrook Resort
- Seattle Aquarium
- Surfsand Resort

Pop open the bubbly!!
We were beyond honored to be awarded “Best Wedding Coordinator” by Seattle Bride Magazine and to be a finalist for “Best New Vendor” in Portland by Oregon Bride Magazine. It means the world to us that our past couples, vendors, and support networks take the time to nominate and vote for us with these awards – THANK YOU!!!

A little behind the scenes: I found out that we had won the Seattle award while I was attending an Engage Conference in Banff (more on this further down in the post). It was such a proud moment to announce to the dinner table of top-notch wedding professionals from around the world that my team back in Seattle had just won – seriously, I’m about to start crying just thinking about it. And then, the next day I jumped on a plane from the Engage Conference and flew straight to Portland so I could attend the award ceremony for Oregon Bride and cheer on Bridget who worked SO HARD to launch Perfectly Posh Events in PDX this past year – she deserved all the champagne that night! After that party, I rented a car and drove up I-5 to Seattle late at night to complete a whirlwind 24 hours of celebration mixed with traveling from Banff > Portland > Seattle. Totally worth it!!
Speaking of Bridget, Ms. B won a super prestigious award earlier in 2018 for a wedding that she planned, designed, and produced in August 2017. Bridget’s hard work on Theresa + Alex’s wedding certainly paid off when she won “Best Wedding” at the ILEA Emerald City Applause Awards, which is voted on by a panel of judges in another state. We are all so proud of her!!!

Multiple of our past weddings from 2017 were featured in print and on blogs this year and we couldn’t be more thrilled! We have several other really exciting features coming up over the next few months so stay tuned for some more lovely wedding eye-candy and love stories from our couples!! Here is a glimpse at just a few of the weddings that were published this year:
- Pacific Northwest Weddings Magazine (inguinal issue!): Theresa + Alex’s Bell Harbor Wedding
- Seattle Bride Magazine: Stephanie + Abe’s DeLille Cellars Wedding
- Carats & Cake: Anne + Ryan’s Gig Harbor Wedding
- Elizabeth Anne Designs: Ashley + Alan’s DeLille Cellars Wedding
- Wedding Chicks: Royal Wedding Styled Shoot
- Any many more!!!
New Planning Studio!
We all know how much Danae loves (insert sarcasm) to move offices, so I just couldn’t help myself and I picked out a new studio space for us to move into this past Spring in Belltown + Lower Queen Anne. Our new home (and hopefully our forever home) needed quite a bit of TLC when we first moved in…it was originally painted a hideous shade of yellow…and it was a blast customizing the space to look exactly how we wanted. I love the high ceilings, lots of natural sunlight, original hardwood floors with lots of character, and the peak-a-boo view of the Space Needle that I have from my desk. And of course, in typical Perfectly Posh Events style, we had to throw a party to christen the new space!

Victoria, BC
Several planners on our team jetted off to Victoria, BC for a fun + informative trip to learn about planning destination weddings in Canada. We loved exploring Victoria, BC, touring venues, and meeting so many talented wedding vendors. Thank you so much to the Fairmont Empress for organizing and hosting us! We look forward to planning some amazing weddings in Victoria, BC real soon!!!
Engage Conference in Banff
I’m a big believer in constantly educating and immersing myself in inspiration to help grow and improve my company. This year I made the investment to attend a phenomenal wedding industry conference called Engage in Banff, Canada (a bucket list item for me!). Engage focuses on the luxury segment of the wedding industry and the attendees at this conference are some of the best wedding pro’s in the biz from all over the world! The conference was very inspiring + educational, and I love that each time I attend a conference in a different market it helps me elevate my team’s design + planning approach to go beyond what is the norm for the Seattle + Portland markets.

Welcome to Townley + Annie + Alex
Our team grew again this year by welcoming several new planners and a social media maven to our ranks! We welcomed Townley to the Seattle team and Annie + Alex to the Portland team. It’s been a blast having these girls as part of Perfectly Posh Events and I look forward to all the fabulous weddings that they will be planning in the coming year!
Fond Farewells to Huoy + Bridget
2018 also marked the end of two eras with the departures of two longtime planners from our team.
Huoy was the very first assistant (and eventually planner) that I hired back in 2012 and I still remember the fabulous purple suede shoes that she wore to her interview…those were some killer heels and they definitely sealed the deal for me! After much thought over the past year, Huoy decided to branch off from Perfectly Posh Events and focus on her wedding photography business; she’s a really fabulous photographer and I’m super excited that we can now work together in a planner + photographer relationship! Go check her out, her work is soft, romantic and airy – and she still has her amazing fashion sense! www.huoychen.com and Instagram @huoychen
At the conclusion of her wedding season this year, Bridget made the bitter sweet decision to move back home to Charleston, South Carolina to be closer to her family. We all miss her dearly but are happy that she gets to return home to her roots and spend some quality time with the people she loves the most. Before the big move, Bridget helped to launch our Portland wedding planning branch after being our go-to-gal in Seattle for several years as a leader for our team and [award-winning!] Senior Planner. We are happy for the new chapter in both Bridget and Huoy’s lives that will be unfolding in 2019 and it goes without saying that they will always be part of the Perfectly Posh Events family!

The best is yet to come!
I am so excited for what is in store with Perfectly Posh Events and our fabulous weddings in 2019! We have some pretty amazing couples getting hitched in the next year and we can’t wait for their celebrations! CHEERS!!!!
