I am both elated to share –and embarrassed at how long it has taken me to get around to publishing– one of the most vibrant and colorful weddings I’ve ever had the privilege to plan! Katie + Michael were my first rescheduled wedding that followed in the wake from Covid restrictions in our state in 2021, so it was an emotional day! We had navigated restrictions, and come up with plan a, plan b, plan c, and d. So when the state finally opened up, we were ready to finally get these two hitched the way they dreamed–with loved ones around them!

Bold & Vibrant Wedding Design
Katie + Mike were bold, and wanted their wedding to look and and feel different than the other weddings their friends and family had been to. Katie wanted it to be bold and colorful, while also toeing the line of elegant and classic. The result was breathtaking. Her bouquet was full of textures, dimensions, and colors. The longer we stare at it, the more we see and love it.

Waterfront Ceremony
The ceremony was officiated by their friend Tommy, who had memorized his entire ceremony script–what a feat! Katie + Mike were so thrilled– and their vows were ones to remember–so heartfelt, genuine, and honest. They were so elated to walk down the aisle–FINALLY!

As one does, when getting married at the Woodmark Hotel, Katie + Michael set sail for a quick trip on Lake Washington on The Woodmark II. Once they returned, they got to see their tent flipped into the reception while guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn and were in awe. All of our planning had finally paid off to such a beautiful and stunning event.

Reception on the Lake
Two words: Velvet linen. Katie wanted bold and luxurious linens to make a statement throughout her wedding, and what better way to nail this than with velvet? The guest reception tables were donned with the soft textured linens, bright colored blooms in equally colorful vases, and topped with elegant velum paper menus with the delicate gold paperclips holding guests’ place cards in place. The bar signs–along with all of the signage throughout the event were actually all a fun and trendy frosted acrylic, which nodded nicely to the velum paper menus. Major key! My favorite detail was the seating assignments display on the escort table– guests found their name around the floral centerpiece, and found their seat at one of the many tables named for the favorite places Katie + Michael have visited together.

Other fun details were the small dance floor under the tent for the traditional first dances, and the cake table in the middle of the tent! We were able to arrange the guest tables in a unique fashion around the tent, due to their lower guest count, which was a different set-up under the Woodmark’s lakeside tent!

It was an honor and a pleasure to navigate celebrating a union and partnership with Katie + Michael. They were trusting and funny, and wonderful friends throughout the process! Congratulations, Katie + Mike! I will re-live this day for all of the days. Cheers!
