The sun was showing off in Seattle the weekend Sara + Ben said “I do!” It was the first weekend that felt like summer was right around the corner, and we can’t wait to show you all of the colors and textures and details that made this day even more memorable!
It was a relaxing day for Sara + Ben. They were both so poised and relaxed. Sara had brunch with her family that came into town, and Ben & his groomsmen hung out at the bar before pictures. Everyone was so excited for the day, and the weather could not have been more perfect!
When she sat down with Danae during the wedding planning process, Sara could only describe the theme of her wedding day as “Scandinavian bohemian” and the only color she really knew she wanted to include was blue– all shades of blue! She loved all things textured and natural, and wanted the wedding to feel like “them”. They were both looking forward to enjoying the company of all the friends and family that came into town to celebrate them finally tying the knot!
Despite the size of the wedding, the ceremony felt intimate and private, because it was set in a secluded garden on Queen Anne, otherwise known as Parsons Gardens. There weren’t speakers or microphones; just a string duo, an officiant, and a small wedding party, who were all dear friends.
After taking a few deep breaths together, Sara was walked down the aisle by her mother.
Under their beautiful chuppah, Sara and Ben were shaded by a canopy of Sara’s late father’s blue dress shirts that had been quilted together by her mother.
After the ceremony, guests meandered over to the reception space on the Olympic Rooftop Pavilion of Hotel Ballard, where they were greeted with passed champagne and rosè and delicious hor d’oeuvres. On the streets below, a bike race was ensuing that had cyclists racing past for a good portion of the evening– some of the guests found it riveting!
After cocktail hour, guests were seated and served an amazing family style dinner served by Stoneburner, and ate to their heart’s content under the setting PNW sun. With the reception space having three-sided glass walls, they were slid open for guests to enjoy the cool summer air.
A special bottle of Dom was brought out during Sara’s mother’s toast. The Dom Perignon passed around was saved for over 20 years by Sara’s dad after he received it as a commemoration on a huge Boeing deal he had been a part of. He promised to save it and not open it until something amazing happened– like his daughter’s wedding day. They raised their glasses and toasted to him.
After toasts and cake cutting, the guests enjoyed music, a hava nagila, dancing, and an outdoor sitting area, complete with a fireplace to enjoy long after the sun had set.
