In honor of these lovebirds celebrating their one year anniversary a few weeks ago, we had to share Karissa + Alex’s Axis Pioneer Square wedding with you!
It was clear upon sitting down with them for the first time that they adored each other, and were adamant their wedding day be threefold: fun, elegant, and intimate. We would learn throughout the planning process that Alex is laid back and a jokester {and proud of his alma mater- Go Cougs!}, and Karissa is composed and kind. There was so much laughing whenever we got together to dream and plan, and their wedding day was no different– except maybe a few more tears. We also learned Alex is a softie. :)
Karissa got dolled up with her gals at Alexis Hotel before being whisked away in a vintage Rolls Royce to her first look with Alex.
Gas Works Park was the perfect location for Seattle to show off how beautiful it can be; even when the skies are gray!
They arrived at Axis via the back alley for what Karissa called an “intimate grand entrance!” where they were greeted by their friends and family with cheers, whistles, and gold confetti! We’ve never seen this done before, but loved the special moment it was for their families to see K+A together for the first time on their wedding day!
Opting for a timeless look, K+A chose ivory, black, and gold accents as their wedding colors. The bridesmaids donned different styles of gold dresses, and the men looked dapper in black suits + ties.
The ceremony was breathtaking; with lush, ivory drapes framing the two, complete with crawling vines and a glowing chandelier overhead. Our favorite part of the whole day was watching Alex bury his face in his hands as Karissa walked down the aisle; we told you Alex was a softie! He cried good tears most of the ceremony. Their ceremony was so personal to them and their supportive and loving relationship.
From then on it was a celebration! Drinks were flowing, food was passing, and music was playing! They had a mini grand entrance at the beginning of cocktail hour, where they said “Thank You” and had their first dance! From there, dinner was served buffet style, and Karissa + Alex enjoyed their own sweetheart table under the repurposed ceremony chandelier. A personal touch they added were their table names; they were all named different cities that have significant meanings to the couple. Like where they met, their first date, places they’ve been together, etc.
In lieu of a garter toss, the groom sported a crimson jersey as he threw a nerf football wrapped with a WSU Cougars bowtie to all of his single buddies! The DJ even played the WSU Fight Song to be more thematic. Karissa + Alex’s guests came to party! The music was awesome, and the bar was stocked. They were set for a great night! At the close of the evening, Karissa + Alex were sent off to their new lives together with a sparkler exit, and drove off as newlyweds in their Rolls Royce.
We had so much fun celebrating with you, Karissa + Alex. Happy belated anniversary, and cheers to many, many more! Let’s hit up happy hour soon.Photo Credit | Roland Hale Photography
