We can’t wait to introduce you to one of our couples who are tying the knot this month! We are pleased to introduce Tanya + Trevor!
Their love for each other on camera is SO evident. But their love story makes it even more apparent. Read on to get to know Tanya + Trevor a bit more!
Tell us a little bit about your love story. When did you meet?
We met when we started working together in 2008. We quickly became best friends when we found ourselves with very little to do at work and all the time in the world to chat with each other over IM.
When we started dating, I’m not sure that either one of us thought it could ever be a serious thing. We came from very different backgrounds and belief systems but were very attracted to each other. As time went on we realized that we were a great match (regardless of what it seemed like on paper). We fell in love and it was apparent that each of us did everything to put the other first. We always wanted to make each other happy and sought adventure in traveling together. We learned so much from one another and grew to become better people. We had so much love to give and were so lucky to find each other.
He was a big part of my life when my mom passed away. A wonderful, supportive friend at the time. He listened to me talk about how sad I was, he was there when I made a really hard decision to cut off my relationship with my dad and move out on my own to a new city (Bellevue). I have so many memories of us in Bellevue together. It was like I started this new life and he was by my side every step of the way. I wish he would’ve met my mom. I know she would’ve adored him!
How did you get engaged?
When I came home on the day of our engagement, he greeted me in a suit (he hasn’t owned a suit since I’ve known him!) and told me I had 45 minutes to get ready. Trevor surprised me with a date to Canlis in their private room overlooking Lake Union. After he ordered the 8-Course tasting menu with wine pairings, he told me to close my eyes, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
What activities & hobbies do you and your fiancé enjoy in your free-time?
We love Seattle and the outdoors. We often like to go out on the boat in the San Juans and go crabbing with his family or just enjoy the scenery. We like to hike, watch movies, eat good food and drink good wine. Cooking is something we do together 5 times a week (usually ALL new recipes!). One of my favorite memories was when we took a cooking class at a farmhouse in Tuscany. I knew he didn’t really want to do it, but did it to make me happy. He ended up having a fabulous time, of course!
A thing that is big for us is seeing the world together. This means a lot to me because when my mom passed away she had been planning a trip to Europe that she never got to go on. When she died, I realized how fragile life was and how I needed to just do the things I wanted to do and see the places I wanted to see. Trevor let’s me pick the place, plan the trip and just shows up for the ride. When we first went on an international trip together (Iceland and England), it was confirmed that he was the one for me. As stressed as I was to find the place we were going, he would just hold me and smile and try to cheer me up.
We’ve been to many places so far and are still planning a European vacation before our honeymoon! YOLO, right? We’ll be going to Barcelona and again to France. This time with his mom, dad and sister who have quickly become my own mom, dad and sister.
